ReadWest, Inc. is a non-profit literacy agency providing one-to-one tutoring by trained certified volunteers, FREE OF CHARGE.

ReadWest is an Accredited Affiliate of ProLiteracy America. Sixteen standards of quality are continually achieved to maintain ProLiteracy accreditation. Since its inception ReadWest has provided over 3,500 adults with literacy services and is expanding to meet the growing needs of our community. ReadWest has served Rio Rancho for over 20 years!

This year ReadWest is in its 21st year of operation and we continue to provide the gift of literacy to adults in Rio Rancho, Corrales, Bernalillo and Northwest Albuquerque. This past year alone, our tutors have served over 400 students. Their successes are our reward.

ReadWest needs volunteers to serve as tutors, fundraisers, and office assistants. ReadWest is home to a wonderful family of volunteers - each one valued in whatever capacity he or she chooses.

We are very proud of our hard working students who diligently pursue their paths to excellence. Its astounding to see the amount of energy emanating from these dynamic individuals. Thank you for choosing ReadWest and allowing us to share your dreams.
A graduate of ReadWest, Marten Griego has self-published his award winning inspirational memoir, Leaving the House of Tears. Marten is a dynamic inspirational and motivational speaker. He has made over 50 presentations in support of adult literacy this year, and often begins with how lucky he is to have found ReadWest and his amazing tutor. You may want to consider organizing a group to hear Marten speak.

I am proud to announce that the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy and the United Way of Central New Mexico have provided funds to ReadWest for FY 2009-10, which will go a long way in providing for our ever increasing numbers of students. However, especially in these difficult financial times, fundraising efforts remain a priority. Every contribution of any size is highly appreciated.
We continue to participate in the Albertsons Community Partners Program. There is no cost to you and we will benefit with your help. Albertsons Community Partners cards are available at ReadWest. Each time you shop have the clerk scan the card before check out and ReadWest will earn 1% of your shopping.

The annual cost for supporting a student is only $240. All donations contribute to ReadWests success. Since ReadWest is a nonprofit organization, your gift will be tax deductible and we will send you a statement for tax purposes. Contact the office for more information.

The National Adult Literacy Survey found a total of 21% of American adults function at a Level 1, the lowest literacy level, finding difficulty in reading, writing and computational skills considered necessary for functioning in everyday life.
