Welcome! Our goal is to help young people learn how to keep all of their teeth for a lifetime. With what is known about dental care today, it is possible for a young person to go through life without a cavity, without a filling, without gum disease, and without eventual need for dentures. We hope our services exceed your expectations and that you will consider referring others for care.

In October, 1991, Dr. Hess purchased the practice of Dr. John E. McReynolds which had included the practice of Dr. James R. Matthews two years earlier. It is the intent of Dr. Hess to continue to deliver the same level of pediatric dental care that Drs. McReynolds and Matthews have for more than thirty years. In July, 2004, Dr. Hess purchased the practice of Dr. Michael Parey.
Emergencies do arise - a sudden slip in the bathtub, or an unexpected encounter with a ball bat, or the sidewalk. Please know that we are ready to help. Just phone the office phone number to reach us anytime.
Unforeseen circumstances may require us to contact you to reschedule your child’s appointment. We will do so as soon as we know of the necessary change. We ask that you extend the same courtesy to us by notifying us if you need to reschedule your appointment. Sometimes it is necessary to schedule appointments during school hours. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding when this happens for your child.
Office personnel are trained to answer most of your questions. However, if you need to speak directly to Dr. Hess, he may need to return your call as his schedule permits. It is not unusual for Dr. Hess to return calls from his home after regular office hours.
A WORD ABOUT X-RAYS
In most instances, because of sufficient spacing between primary teeth, bite wing x-rays are not necessary until a child reaches the age of three and begins exchanging teeth and spaces become smaller. If there is significant involvement in a particular area of the mouth, a periapical (single) film will be taken. Sometimes a panorex (full mouth) x-ray is necessary to assess growth and development as it relates to the potential for orthodontic problems. Occasionally, someone will question the frequency of x-rays or even refuse them. We will respect these wishes; however, studies have shown that exposure to radiation while undergoing dental x-rays is quite minimal.
We are committed to providing the best possible dental care to all our patients. We accept cash, money orders, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We offer a 5% discount to patients who pay 100% of services received with cash or a check. Dr. Hess is not a contracted (in-network) provider with any insurance company. In order for you to receive the full benefit allowed from your insurance company we will submit a dental claim on your behalf, however we encourage you to contact your insurance carrier prior to scheduling an appointment or receiving services to ask what they will or will not cover. We are happy to answer any questions regarding any of our financial policies or insurance questions that you may have.
