Founded by Pat Brothwell
Pat Brothwell, BMUS, UNM College of Fine Arts, founded Guitar Associates in 1987. She taught hundreds of students how to play classical guitar and directed the Guitar Chamber Players and the Summer Guitar Workshop. She passed away in February 2008, leaving Guitar Associates as her legacy.
Where instruction meets performance
Guitar Associates is a private studio which offers professional instruction in all styles of guitar as well as bass, mandolin and banjo.
The teachers at Guitar Associates are both accomplished instructors and performers. We know that performance is key in realizing the relationship between music on the page and music in your ear. All of our instructors have advanced degrees in music and perform professionally.

All teachers accept beginner to advanced students.
Most teachers will accept children as young as seven.
All teachers offer instrucion in basic note reading.
