The pet grooming industry is rapidly growing as more and more people living in apartments and smaller one-family dwellings own small pets. Small pets living indoors with their families need to be clean and well groomed. This demand laid the foundation for a pet grooming school to be established in New Mexico. Albuquerque Grooming & Academy is the oldest pet grooming school in New Mexico licensed by the New Mexico Department of Higher Education. The school is bonded and insured.
Albuquerque Grooming & Academy opened in August of 1999 in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. Owner/instructor Carolyn A. Conwell took a leave of absence of 6 months and reopened in September of 2001. The school continued to operate in Bosque Farms until December of 2003 when the school was moved to Albuquerque (30 miles north) for access to a larger volume of pedigreed pets where it operates today.
Carolyn A. Conwell, owner/instructor, has been grooming professionally for over 14 years and is able to offer you the benefit of her experience as well as her training from attending cat and dog grooming school herself.
At Albuquerque Grooming & Academy you are offered small pet grooming classes for better instruction with modern equipment and quality supplies. Our pet grooming school uses only the best apparatus and products. We teach on hydraulic tables and bathe in raised tubs.
At our pet grooming school, we teach nail cutting, bathing, pet hair styling and clipper techniques as well as scissors finishing. We also teach CPR for dogs, equipment maintenance, personal health and safety in a grooming shop.
