Environmental Dynamics and Isis Development Corporation are proud to announce LEED® Platinum certification of the Cognitive Behavioral Institute located in Albuquerque, NM. CBI is the first LEED Platinum certified building in the State of New Mexico and the 210th in the nation. LEED Platinum level is the highest level of recognition from the Green Building Certification Institute.
CBI is a nationally recognized center for postdoctoral training and outpatient cognitive behavioral psychotherapy. The building includes a reception area, offices, conference room, library/resource center, exercise room with shower and changing facilities, a break room, file storage, restrooms, and utilities.
One feature that contributed to the LEED Platinum certification is the solar photovoltaic system. Standard PV panels were placed on the building roof and bi-facial solar panels were utilized as the shading element of the adjacent parking structure. Energy saving strategies in heating, cooling and lighting were implemented to reduce the power requirements for the building, allowing the renewable energy system to provide nearly 100% of the annual electrical needs of the building. Other notable features include pervious paving at the parking spaces and patios; landscaping that requires no potable water; and the use of low flow plumbing fixtures. The total potable water consumption of the project is estimated to be 40% less than a typical project of identical size. CBI's reduced energy use and successful LEED certification allows the project to qualify for the NM Sustainable Building Tax Credit (SBTC) and receive substantial tax rebates.
