Sharon Walston Kobos, DPM an Albuquerque native, has been practicing in Albuquerque since 2003. She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of New Mexico in 1996 followed by her DPM degree from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in 2000. She then did one year of surgical and non-surgical residency training in San Francisco followed by 2 years of surgical residency in southern California at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, graduating in 2003. She returned to Albuquerque to practice podiatry in 2003 with Podiatry Associates of New Mexico and opened her own practice, Albuquerque Foot & Ankle, Inc, in 2007.
Dr. Kobos is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She has hospital and surgical privileges at Presbyterian Hospitals, Lovelace Hospitals, and the Heart Hospital. She also treats patients with most insurance plans as well as taking Medicare fees for the cash pay patient.
Dr. Kobos treats patients with both surgical and non-surgical foot and ankle problems including wound care, sports medicine, diabetic foot care, nail care, orthotics, biomechanics, some pediatrics and some dermatology. She treats patients of all ages including preventative foot care for the elderly and the immunocompromised.
Formerly Dr. Walston, Sharon married in 2008 and changed her surname to Kobos. Her introduction to podiatry happened when Sharon was a teenager and competitive figure skater. She remains an avid athlete in figure skating, skiing, hiking, biking, and running. Dr. Kobos enjoys treating athletes of all types.
