Important Debit Card Information
Due to increase in fraudulent transactions, Community Bank has added fraud monitoring and real-time decision capabilities to our debit card product. All bank debit cards are blocked outside of the United States. If you are traveling overseas and need to use your debit card, please call your local branch or (505) 946-3500 with the following information: name, card number, visiting country, and dates traveling. This block also applies to websites that are hosted outside of the country. If you need to make a purchase on an online site based overseas, please call the bank to make a temporary one-day exception. Please remember that your daily card limit for Point of Sale (POS) transactions is $1000.00 so if you need to make a big purchase, please call the bank for a temporary limit increase on your card. NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS
Community Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
What deposit accounts are included in the definition of a "noninterest-bearing transaction account"?
All funds in noninterest-bearing transaction deposit accounts held in domestic offices and insured branches in Puerto Rico and U.S. territories and possessions of participating FDIC-insured institutions will be fully guaranteed under the transaction account guarantee component of the Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program. A "noninterest-bearing transaction account" is defined as a transaction account with respect to which interest is neither accrued nor paid and on which the insured depository institution does not reserve the right to require advance notice of an intended withdrawal. This definition encompasses traditional demand deposit checking accounts that allow for an unlimited number of deposits and withdrawals at any time. This definition does not encompass interest-bearing money market deposit accounts (MMDAs).
However, for purposes of the transaction account guarantee program, the FDIC is including in the definition of a noninterest-bearing transaction account:
Accounts commonly known as Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTAs) and functionally equivalent accounts; and
Negotiable Order of Withdrawal accounts (NOW accounts) with interest rates no higher than 0.25 percent for which the insured depository institution at which the account is held has committed to maintain the interest rate at or below 0.25 percent. Los Alamos Spirit accounts are not covered by this program and are only insured up to FDIC’s normal deposit insurance coverage of $250,000.
NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS WITH TRANSFER OR SWEEP ARRANGEMENTS
This is to advise you that Community Bank participates in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, your noninterest-bearing transaction accounts with Community Bank have unlimited FDIC deposit insurance. This insurance is in addition to the FDIC's normal deposit insurance coverage of $250,000. However, if you have noninterest-bearing transaction accounts with a transfer or sweep arrangement to an interest-bearing transaction account or product, that transfer could decrease your FDIC deposit insurance coverage.
NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS PURCHASING OFFICIAL CHECKS
Our official checks are issued through another institution that participates in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guaranty Program. This means that the payee of the check is fully insured until December 31, 2010.
