When I think about the best, and most loyal friends in my life - the ones who're always there for me
and who ask the least yet give the most - I think about my pets.
I love the ones who are still with me, and grieve for those who have passed on.
The beautiful boy dog on the right is "Big Red". He had terminal cancer and passed in Feb. 2009. We cherished our final days with him. Red was a rescue dog from Santa Fe Humane Society & Animal Shelter. He was half Chocolate Lab and half Rottweiler and one of the most gentle dogs you'd ever meet (just don't mess with his food!). My daughter picked him out on one of our visits to the shelter after agreeing before-hand not to pick any dog larger than a Chihuahua! As you can see, we ended up with both.
