White Sands Construction was founded in 1976. Dennis Crimmins began working for the company in 1982, and then purchased it in 1985. Dennis, along with his wife, Nell, expanded White Sands Construction into the commercial market, which included work with the military at Holloman Air Force Base.
Since those early years, White Sands Construction under the direction of Dennis and Nell has built some of the finest buildings in the state. Almost every city in New Mexico, and all military installations, has a building built by Dennis and Nell. Many of these building have won awards and honors from the New Mexico Chapter of AIA. Contracts have ranged from a few thousand dollars to ten million dollars. In addition to the commercial and military projects, Dennis has custom built many homes in the Alamogordo area. White Sands Construction Customers are assured of having a company with over twenty-five years of experience who has worked with the best architectural firms in the state, and who uses and supplies customers with the newest technology and best methods available on the market today.
Part of the appeal of White Sands Construction, is the personal involvement that Mr. Crimmins puts forth in every project and the one-on-one attention he provides in negotiating and designing for each prospective client and their needs. Mr. Crimmins’ goal is to be available for clients and ensure an enjoyable and successful project, on budget and on time.
White Sands Construction is small enough so that when clients discuss their building project with the qualified superintendents, supervisors, or office staff a close professional relationship is established immediately. The entire staff meets to review the jobs together so that issues or concerns are handled quickly with ideas and feedback provided by everyone. Effective communication from the staff, workers, and most importantly, clients, is a big part of what makes White Sands Construction a customer-satisfying business.
All craftsmen (carpenters) are members of the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters which is the largest council in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
All of the homes built to date, have been custom homes. These homes have been designed by White Sands Construction and the client from start to finish. With the numerous years of experience, clients are assured to receive the best product available, and we now have spec. Homes for sale.
Mr. Crimmins is a member of the Home Builders Association and has held the following positions in the past: President and charter member of the Sertoma Motorsports Club, member of the Rotary Club, vice chairman of the Committee of 50, board member at Norwest Bank Community Development, and former member of the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce. He has also worked for the Core of Engineers, the Air Force, Army, Navy, the GSA, and INS, along with city, state and Indian governments.
White Sands Construction was awarded a five-year JOC contract to do all the design and construction for the White Sands Missile Range from 1996 though 2000. In 2001 we were asked to take over a failed Saber contract at Holloman AFB. Along with a superb Saber staff from Holloman we turned the Saber contract into a very successful contract and were asked to extend the contract for two additional years. From 2001 – 2005 we did all the design and construction for Holloman AFB Saber program, which was a total success.
White Sands Construction has built city halls, museums, schools, commercial offices, banks, restaurants, churches, Olympic swimming pools, Hospitals additions, civic centers, and homes.
When driving around Southern N.M. from the east state line (Clovis) to the west state line (Lordsburg) and almost every city in between, White Sands Construction has built new or remodeled commercial and residential building in these cities.
