At Carpinteros, our skilled artisans create beautiful, lasting handcrafted furniture, built one piece at a time, that you can't find anywhere else in the world.
From our intricately carved Tecolote sideboard to our handsome Trampas bed, every piece made here reflects New Mexico's rich woodworking history, which stretches back four centuries. Combining sophisticated design with consummate craftsmanship, Carpinteros produces heirloom quality furniture that is equally at home in a Santa Fe style adobe or a beach house in the Hamptons.
Our museum-quality reproductions, made in America, represent an evolution in woodworking artistry that began in New Mexico with the first permanent establishment of the Spanish colonies in the 1600s. Among those early settlers were artisan guilds, including woodworkers called carpinteros who pioneered the Spanish traditions and techniques of their craft to suit the climate of New Mexico and the needs of its settlers.
We continue to employ the practices of those carpinteros in the building of our furniture today. Our simple but sophisticated details and textures are hand-carved, chipped and adzed into the surface, breathing life into the wood. Hand-applied finishes are formulated from age-old recipes that bring out the wood's warm glow. Our primary medium is Ponderosa pine, sustainably harvested and cured expressly for Carpinteros
We're passionate about the pieces we make at Carpinteros. Every sideboard, loveseat, table, desk, chest and chair reflects our devotion to the history of this craft as well as to the contemporary needs of our customers. Our furniture is built to enhance your home and to last for generations. It pairs perfectly with Santa Fe Style, Mission Style and Cowboy Style but also fits right in with contemporary Southwest, modern Minimalist and sleek, urban interiors.
We've recently changed our name from Taos Furniture to Carpinteros. Browse our online catalog to view the refined level of craftsmanship and historic detail in each piece and you'll agree it's the perfect namesake. Carpinteros furniture is, indeed, made for the ages.
It is our extreme pleasure to announce the merger of Southwest Spanish Craftsmen and Carpinteros, bringing two Santa Fe institutions to one location. The combined showroom is located at 217 Galisteo Street.
