Little Forest Playschool is a cooperatively-managed preschool for children aged 2-5, located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Since our founding in 1951, we have given children the opportunity to learn the same way they do naturally: through exploration and play. Little Forest alumni have moved on to become Science Fair winners, class valedictorians, artists, teachers, scientists, and community leaders.

We are now accepting new students for Summer and Fall!
Open registration for Summer 2010 and the 2010-2011 school year has begun. Limited spaces are available in all of our classrooms.
Need a preschool home sooner? Immediate enrollment is available on a case-by-case basis, with a waiting list available for currently unavailable spots.

Thank You, Thank You!!!
To all the families who helped and participated in the Rodeo Parade! We had a fabulous time!! Little Forest handed out school fliers, got lots of PR, and even took 2nd Place in the parade!
New Parent Orientation

Bills for August
You will notice that invoice for August went out on Monday (8/23). We have been playing ‘who is really the boss?’ with some of our technology and I appologize for the delay. August Tuition is due by September 1st.

Many people have been a bit confused by the new location of the sign-in sheets and how this changes their drop-off/pick-up routine. In order to prevent being charged a fee for picking up early/late we recommend that you drop your child off and then go sign in. When picking up, sign out first and then go to your child’s class.
Also, please remember that Room 4 is holding class all day and interruptions can be very distracting for them. Please be courteous of their class and do not use Room 4 as a short-cut.
Director will be Away
Jeni will be out of town from August 25th through September 1st. The Acting Director will be Alexis Croce and Allison Collins will be manning the office. Please direct any urgent questions you may have to them. Thank you in advance for your patience!!!
Next Board Meeting
The Board of Directors will meet Thursday, September 16th at the Chamber of Commerce at 6:00pm. All Corporation members (that’s you!) are welcome.

Fall Fiesta!

It is time to celebrate our school!
Fall Fiesta will be held this year on September 18th from 10am to 2pm. We need a great many volunteers to make it happen. It’s a fun and enjoyable way to earn your school wide work credits. There are shifts available for the silent auction, food line, games and craft booths, as well as setup and clean up.

We also need large cardboard boxes to create our Alpine Slide as well as items for the Bake Sale.
Looking for other ways to fulfill your School Work Credit?

We are in need of a parent to bring the trash cans in from the curb every Thursday morning between 9:00 and 10:00am. UPDATE: Thanks for volunteering! This job has been filled.
Many of the window have lost their screens this summer, and we have all the tools to fix them we just don’t have the time.
Our garden and playground are in need of a little tender loving care…perfect for someone who’d love to spend a couple hours playing in the dirt.
Like to paint? Room 1 has colors all picked out to repaint their loft and would love a volunteer to help them out.

Playschool Operating Committee
The Playschool Operating Committee (POC) is a vital part of Little Forest Playschool. A large part of its responsibility is organizing our three largest fund-raisers throughout the school year, Fall Fiesta, Fall Resale, and Spring Resale. Other duties include publicity for the school, maintaining a nomination committee and keeping a record of the history of our school. We are in great need of new members who can bring new enthusiasm and fresh ideas. Please contact Amy Lee Stanfield at poc@littleforestplayschool.org if you are interested.

It is never to early to get a head start. The 2011 Spring Resale is scheduled for March 12th.
