Martin Lopez has been a member of the New Mexico bar since 1979 and a member of the District of Columbia bar since 1985. He has substantial experience in both complex civil and criminal defense litigation in both State and Federal Courts. Mr. Lopez has a wide variety of trial experience in the 31 years since graduating from The George Washington Universitys National Law Center. Mr. Lopezs legal experience includes positions at the New Mexico Property Tax Department, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C., the District of Columbia Public Defender Service, New Mexico Public Defender Office, the New Mexico Attorney Generals Consumer and Economic Crimes Division, the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, and in private practice since 1984.
Mr. Lopez serves as a member of the New Mexico State Bar Examiners and as Assistant Bar Counsel for the New Mexico State Bar Disciplinary Board. He is a past member of the New Mexico State Bar Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee and Minorities in the Profession Committee and a former director of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association.
Mr. Lopez has served on boards of numerous community organizations, including St. Marys Advisory School Board (past president), St. Pius X High School Advisory School Board (past president), Rollins College Parent Council (former New Mexico representative), University of Dallas Parent Association, and Petroglyph Little League (past director). He is a graduate of Leadership Albuquerque, a member of the Saint Pius X High School Athletic Booster Club, University of Dallas Baseball Diamond Club Boosters, and has actively coached little league baseball, softball and AABC and USSSA baseball for the Albuquerque Sol and Albuquerque X.
